#3. Update International Stainless Steel Anti-Jam Steam Table Pan

Update International Stainless Steel Anti-Jam Steam Table Pan

Editor's Rating: 4.4/5 Overall Score

The box is made of 24 gauge stainless steel and weighs 2.2 pounds. Measured 20.75 inches in length, 12.75 inches in width, and 4 inches in height, it’s surprisingly qualified of being an alternative litter box for your feline. It’s said to be a little bit thin for a restaurant pan, but still fine as a cat litter box. The stainless steel makes it really hard for clumps to stick on it and the urine will not be able to cause any damage to the steel surface.

The corners are designed and reinforced, giving the box the ability to remain in shape after strong impacts. But the only problem which I find undesirable about this product is that it’s kind of shallow. This might cause the litter to fall out when your feline digs up the litter. To make cleaning up easier, you can get a litter mat. If your pet is too big, this litter pan might not be the best choice, compared to the others in this list.

Pros

  • Made of 24 gauge steel
  • Stainless steel makes it easy to clean
  • Well manufactured
  • Light, but sturdy

Cons

  • Might be shallow for big cats

The product is also made with good quality 25 gauge stainless steel. Strong stain resistance and a spotless inner surface make this pan a great litter box for your feline. It’s 20.9 inches in length, 12.9 inches in width, and 5.9 inches in height, the perfect size for a cat litter box. It has enough space for more than 3 kittens and a proper height so the litter won’t fall out when it's being scooped. And the litter box is not very heavy, only weight 2.4 pounds. But it’s pretty durable due to the strong metal material.

I think this would make a great replacement for anyone who is looking for a product that could handle sticky clumps. And also, the metal material makes it odor-free so you won’t be worrying about them like with a plastic one.

Pros

  • Perfect size for an alternative litter box
  • Stainless steel
  • Can clean up easily
  • Strong and durable

Cons

Stainless and spotless, this litter pan is effective when dealing with all type of cat wastes. Urine, poop, and even vomit won’t be a problem with the box. You can clean it by scooping all the clumps away. All the stains within the pan can be easily removed with some water, cleaning detergent and a rag.

What to consider when choosing a steel litter box?

Size

Your litter box should have a dimension of 21 x 12 x 6 inches. This would be enough for a medium size matured cat. If you’re using the box for small kittens, it is necessary to lower the height so they can crawl up. And don’t choose a litter box that’s is too shallow because cats won’t like it, they want something which they can freely dig their paws into.

Material

Always choose a stainless steel pan and make sure it's made from 24 gauge or better steel. This metal will increase the box durability. Because they’re originally pans, these boxes are often very thin so those that were made from low quality steel will not be able to withstand your little lion.

Bottom line

I'm actually a big fan of using a stainless steel food pan as a cat litter box, and think it's a brilliant idea. It’s very clean and convenient. And plus, the price is also very attractive. After careful research, our number one pick is the iPrimio Ultimate Stainless Steel Cat Litter Box.
